Imphal - Kohima - Touphema - Mokokchung - Jorhat - Majuli - Kaziranga NP - Guwahati

(A 15 day visit covering Manipur, Nagaland & Assam visiting Tribes, Monuments, Monasteries and National Parks)

Day 01: Imphal:

Arrive at Imphal airport. Drive to hotel Nirmala or similar & check in. Evening walk around the market place. Imphal is the capital of Manipur.

Day 02: Imphal-Loktak Lake-( 90 minutes)- Imphal

After breakfast drive to Loktak Lake which is a huge natural water body. It is famous for the Keibul Lamjao National Park, which is the only floating National Park in the world. This park is the last natural habitat of the brow antlered deer or the Sangai .Besides, the park boasts of hog deer & a host of water fowls & migratory birds. Come back to Imphal & go for sight seeing in the town.

Day 03: Imphal-Kohima:

After breakfast drive to Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. Kohima is a beautiful town situated at an altitude of 1444 m with panoramic view. On arrival we check in at hotel Japhu or Govt. Tourist Lodge.

Day 04: Kohima:

After breakfast we drive to Khanoma village,20 km from the town. Khanoma has its unique tradition of valour & history reveals that Khanoma provided protection to several villages in the past.

After lunch in the afternoon we visit the old Kohima village or Bara Basti, the most populous tribal village in Asia. Overnight at Kohima.

Day 05: Kohima-Dzukou Valley Camp (2438 Metres):

We drive to the country side & then hike to the isolated Dzukou Valley. It is an enclosed valley with nature’s bounty, pastoral ambiance, wild flowers & caves. Explore the valley & camp overnight.

Day 06: Dzukou Valley camp-Kohima:

Hike back to the road. Drive to visit the Viswema Tribal Village and then drive back to Kohima. Late afternoon we visit the local market to experience the uniqueness of this destination, where the tribal women come to buy & sell their produce. Overnight at Kohima.

Day 07 : Kohima- Touphema:

In the morning we visit the World war II Cemetery, a mind blowing place for those who laid down their lives while halting Japanese advances in the World War II. We can also visit the museum and handicrafts emporium. In the afternoon we proceed to Touphema, a village of the Angami tribe & check into huts built in the Angami Naga style. Then we go around Touphema village.

Day 08 : Touphema-Mokokchung: (05 & 1/2 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Longkhum village 05 hrs away. It is a vanguard village during the days of head hunting. We will meet the village head man & will be escorted by him through the village. From here we will drive to Mokokchung. This picturesque town is the cultural center of the Ao tribe of Nagaland. Overnight at I.B. or Camps.

Day 09 : Mokokchung:

After breakfast we will drive to Mopungchukit village. Meet village folks, see their culture and custom. In the afternoon go to Ungma village. It is the oldest and biggest Ao village & according to a legend the early Ao tribe settled here after coming from Chungliyimit. O/N at Mokokchung.

Day 10 : Mokokchung – Jorhat ( 03-04 hrs) :

Half day at Mokokchung.Later after lunch we drive to Jorhat. Overnight at hotel Paradise or similar.

Day 11: Jorhat-Majuli (02 hr)-Jorhat :

From Jorhat it is a 14 km. drive to Nimatighat, from where we take the local ferry to Majuli which will take around 01 & hrs. We will visit the Vaisnavite monasteries or Satras and interact with the monks.

Majuli is the largest river island in the world. It is the seat of Assam’s Vaisnavite culture. Majuli is also a bird watcher’s paradise. In the late afternoon we return the same way to Jorhat.

Day 12: Jorhat – Kaziranga (02 hrs) :

After break fast drive to Kaziranga National Park which is the home of the Great Indian One- Horned Rhinoceros. Apart from rhinos the park abounds in four species of deer, elephants, Asiatic Buffalo, wild boar, tiger, leopard, hoolock gibbon, etc. and a host of birds—both local & migratory.

Overnight at Bonhabi Resort or Government Tourist Lodges.

Days 13-14 : Kaziranga:

Two full days at Kaziranga covering 03 ranges.

Day 15 : Kaziranga- Guwahati (04 hrs)

After break fast we drive to Guwahati. On arrival we have our lunch & afterwards we drive to the airport to catch your flight. Enroute visit Assam Govt. emporium if you are interested to take home some mementos from Assam’s famous handloom & handicraft collection. The Tour Ends Here.
